Eastern Cape Premier wants alcohol banned in Eastern Cape.
Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane said the Provincial Command Council may ask the national council to stop the sale of alcohol.
The province has the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases after the Western Cape.
Mabuyane says alcohol and funerals are still a major problem.
“We have indicated that even in funerals we still have some people drinking alcohol while the funeral is continuing on the other side,” he said.
“Funerals remain a source” of a problem, in terms of the infections, even though our numbers were limited to 50.
