Netherlands legend and former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens has sadly passed away

Johan Neeskens, a legendary figure in Dutch football and a former coach of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, has passed away at the age of 73. Neeskens was renowned for his outstanding career as both a player and a coach. As a key player in the famous “Total Football” era of the Dutch national team in the 1970s, he was instrumental in leading the Netherlands to two World Cup finals in 1974 and 1978. His club career included notable stints at Ajax and Barcelona, where he won numerous trophies.

Later in his career, Neeskens transitioned into coaching, where he made an impact around the world, including in South Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns. His knowledge of the game and experience left a lasting mark on the football community. His passing is a significant loss for football, and he will be remembered as one of the greats.
